According to chatgptfree.ai #artificialintelligence:
“In SAP, a Business Partner is a master data object that
represents an entity or individual with whom a business has a relationship. The
Business Partner concept in SAP consolidates the management of customer,
vendor, and other business partner data into a single entity, streamlining
processes and improving data consistency across different modules within the
SAP system.
By using Business Partners in SAP, organizations can maintain a central
repository of information for all types of business relationships, such as
customers, vendors, employees, and contacts. Each Business Partner record can
store details such as name, address, contact information, payment terms, bank
details, and other relevant data that is shared across various business
processes.
Business Partners in SAP can be used in modules such as Customer Relationship
Management (CRM), Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), Sales and
Distribution (SD), and Materials Management (MM), enabling seamless integration
and data sharing between different functional areas of the organization.
Overall, the Business Partner concept in SAP provides a unified approach to
managing business relationships and simplifies data maintenance and reporting
processes by eliminating the need to duplicate information across multiple
master data records.”
Use transaction BP to create or edit Business Partners. The
BPs can be generated as person, organization or group. Consider that the BP
number will be unique, and can differ from the Customer or Vendor number. We
will check this later.
Basic data is completed, such as Name (in up to 4 lines), search
term (useful in searches), the address (street, house number, zip code, city
and country), and language (which is a mandatory field).
In Identification tab, Legal form is completed. Also, complete
the company number (EIN in the US, CUIT in Argentina, for example).
Roles will be added for customers or vendors. The same
Business Partner can be a vendor or a customer as well, at the same time. Here
we display a company code view for vendor role, where you can notice “supplier”
number is Internal. Upon saving, the system will assign a number to the vendor,
which might defer from the BP number and is also unique.
Reconciliation account will also be defined. This account
will only allow indirect postings, which means that the vendor will be selected
in the corresponding transaction and only then will the account be impacted.
Payment Methods and House Bank will be defined for the Vendor.
Consider that if this information is missing the automatic payment program in
F110 will not pick up the invoice for payment. We will take this concept in a future post.
And finally, when the BP is a vendor, bank accounts for
payment must be defined. Once again, if not done this Will impact F110 negatively.
